Yup to the first: tried

unclechristo's at the filk con (which is what really convinced me I wanted one).

I've just bought, and am waiting to receive, a copy of an article from the 60s written by Moog with details about building one (Moog also produce a kit version of their Etherwave which is what I was intending to get: other makes and kits are smaller and seem more like toys than the Etherwave which has the solidity of a "proper" musical instrument). I would even consider building from scratch: if my abilities don't suffice there are almost too many folk I could get to help!

The Ebay offer is good because it includes an amp. I need an amp. (There have been long discussions, mainly with the electric guitarists I've played in bands with, about what amp to get to satisfy my slightly odd requirements: wind synth, mic-ed flute, mic-ed sax, potentially the theremin, and occasional electric acoustic guitar. They opted for a guitar amp. The consensus on the windsynth group in Yahoo is a keyboard amp for the wind synth. But I reckon an amp designed to go with a theremin (5 octave range) should work with the other things as well.)

Of course buying one doesn't exclude building one too!
