Progress?...
Nov. 10th, 2002 11:53 pmYesterday, wrote 2.5k words, longer into the night than intended. Hence more exhausted today than might otherwise have been (in a particularly exhausted, arthriticky, skin burning phase anyway). Still, the darn short story, structurally tangled and thematically dubious as it is, keeps on growing. (The NaNoWriMo stuff is just going to have to wait.) What's really interesting is that we can see the possibility of two closely-related companion pieces, prequel and sequel. We're still going to finish the short story as planned (at least in part to inflict the horrors of extended passages (nay, sections) in the pluperfect on CWIL) as we've burbled about it enough in theory to CWIL that we really owe them the reality.
...And Boggled
The weekend's most mind warping notion, after Antonia Byatt on Discworld (now there's a title for a story!) is surely the notion of "Spike: The Wile E. Coyote of living-dead bloodsuckers?" brought up in the Salon's coverage of the Buffy Conference in Norwich. (Here and worth putting up with the car adverts if you're not a subscriber.) We're boggled. Even in our current state, which we believe ought to be described as recovering*, there are times when aspects of Buffy still appeal.
* On the subject of recovering and the habits that need to be broken: just how often do we end up listening to VH1 Classic Rocks late of an evening? Worrying.
