Incroyable!
Jan. 2nd, 2005 12:45 pmFrom today's Torygraph, a description of the Museum of Creation: In the beginning . . . Adam walked with dinosaurs
The article states:
The centrepiece of the museum is a series of huge model dinosaurs, built by the former head of design at Universal Studios, which are portrayed as existing alongside man, contrary to received scientific opinion that they lived millions of years apart.Seems good clean, if inaccurate, fun so far. The piece continues, quoting the museum's creator,
Mr Ham is particularly proud of a planned reconstruction of the interior of Noah's Ark. "You will hear the water lapping, feel the Ark rocking and perhaps even hear people outside screaming," he said.I just hope that was a quote taken from material put out before last week.
Other exhibits educate us to the sources of disease and famine--mankind's sin--and AIDs--homosexuality. The old accusations, the ones we'd expect, but hurtful and harmful nonetheless. And always there are dinosaurs:
... in another room, visitors will see a tyrannosaurus rex pursuing Adam and Eve after their fall from grace. "That's the real terror that Adam's sin unleashed," visitors will be warned. One wonders if they're standing in the crowd around the "3D depiction of the crucifixion" too. Oh, no, wait, they didn't make it and are just bones in the Grand Canyon which was, "purportedly formed by the swirling waters of the Great Flood".
I'd laugh, member of the evolutionary elite as I evidently am, except it really makes me want to weep.
Still it looks like a cheap day out with entry at $10 a head. A sum that certainly wouldn't get you into Thorpe Park or the infinitely more educational Legoland.
