Folio to do Lovecraft?

Cthulhu in gorgeous illustrated hardback, what a thought. Yum.

The Folio Society sent me its questionnaire and asked which of the proposed works in their list I'd probably buy, might buy or wouldn't buy. There wasn't a box for: I'll pay double if you do that one. Yes, they're considering a volume of Lovecraft.

Now all I need to do is corner any Folio Society members I know, in case they got the questionnaire too, and say "Pretty please, vote for Cthulhu" a lot.

Stitch Pr0n

Got my latest Classic Stitches on Saturday morning: good for a couple of evenings' worth of gazing at pictures of embroideries. There was competition for my, shall we confess lascivious, attention: Mark Rylance costumed as Duke Vincentio (from The Globe's 2004 production of Measure for Measure) with interiors of Hampton Court in the background. Luscious. Superb. The profile of a Mr Darcy, but with large, dark eyes with an expression of vulnerability, framed by large broad-brimmed hat, above, and a stupendous ruff, below. He's wearing the perfect doublet, covered in gold embroidery, and gloves. Oh the gloves!

The article is fascinating and the other pictures quite informative. There's a nice shot of bobbin lace trim--in gold thread with sequins--being made.

The wardrobe of The Globe, that'd be a place to play dress up, wouldn't it?
