Old Friends

We acquired Big and Little in 1996, when they were about a year old. That makes them 12 and a bit. A good age, but not a huge one, for cats. But....

Little is undeniably slowing down. She's sleeping longer and deeper. She still puts me to bed, but only gets up with me at my normal time: an early start for me doesn't rouse her. We had a brief panic this morning, because we'd all been up for almost an hour and we'd seen Biggle, but not Little. She was eventually located under our bed, still snoozing. She's got perfectly working ears, unlike Biggle, but she just seems terribly tired. No pain, no real loss of condition. Just tired.

I'm beginning to wonder how much longer we'll have her.
