Couldn't find Mrs Fred at teatime: she was tucked in under the winter flowering jasmine, looking very sorry for herself. She wouldn't come out for treats.
At shutting away time, only Mrs Jack was in the eglu. So I hoicked up Mrs Fred from her hiding place and plonked her in the run. Despite attempts to feed her into the pod, that's where she's stayed.
She left behind, underneath the jasmine, the most amazing shelless egg. It's intact as the membrane is capable of holding the contents in without the aid of the shell. I don't somehow think we'll be eating it tho'.
I have a very strong suspicion that this month's roundup of "achievements" might include disposing of a little red corpse :-(
[Can I just say that that's the third shitty occurrence since Sunday and I'm about out of tolerance of crap. And that's ignoring the problem of the persistently obstreperous Esse.]
