Needed to do:

• plan structure of two further parts -- not done, but have got the superstructure sorted
  
• draw timelines/check chronology for consistency -- tomorrow's task
  
• find a title for the entire thing -- done

First paragraph of part 2 written. Think that just about counts as progress.

Started the Xmas shopping. Not so much progress as bowing to the inevitable. Bah humbug.
