Mother's Day

My mother refused to have anything to do with Mother's Day (which she regarded as a token gesture, and Christian to boot) and I've always regarded it with indifference. And now we're no longer in the primary-school-annual-homemade-card-stage I don't expect the day to be marked in any way. So being presented with a homemde pair of bead earrings today was a very nice surprise.

We've never made a big thing of it in my family, but my mother seemed happily surprised when I rang this morning. So that was good, too.
