Birth(day)s, deaths, marriages

 Or something like that.

The week started sadly with an email giving me details of my college tutor's funeral. (Ah, the perils of checking personal emails during lunchbreak.) Booked today off work. Going home and cooking supper and then birthday baking was probably the best distraction there could be.

Yesterday, took cakes to work. They got eaten up. All good. Got jewellery from BR and Looby Loo and a bow on top of my new(-ish) keyboard amp from M (and last week the nut I needed to adjust the mic stand to fit the theremin arrived too: I'm all set to make lots of whooping and wailing noises!)

This morning I went off to a very fine and well-attended funeral in the college chapel. Didn't stay for the wake: too many folk in gowns. (Also, almost no-one I knew.) The quote under RDG's picture in the order of service was from Larkin's "An Arundel Tomb" which was one of the poems we had as readings at our wedding in that same chapel. Appropriate for both ceremonies.

Now, I have a splitting headache--so I'm quite glad I took the whole day off instead of going in to work for the afternoon.
