I was looking forward to lying in the new bath looking out through a window framed with a tring of little twinkly LED lights. But, sometime during Sunday night it fell to the ground. I picked it all up. All the many short pieces of copper wire that someone had been "playing" with. One smol varmint looked very disappointed as I took her new favourite toy away.

She's also discovered jumping in the bath, still not plumbed in. No danger of drowning, yet.

Also balancing on the lovely curvy edges.

I'm not sure what it is about cats and bathtubs. We've had several cats who've enjoyed lounging in the bath. Or watching water run or drip into a sink or basin and occasionally trying to drink it. Growing up, I remember two hapless cats who leapt into a bathtub when it was full of water (and in one case occupied). In both cases they were most indignant that a human would dare to use THEIR bath!

There's definitely an affinity there. I think my worst experience was hearing the awful crash as Gremlin (yup, nominative determinism in play) jumped into the bath full of empty bottles soaking in sodium metabisulphate prior to our bottling some home brew. No breakages, but there was a struggle as we tried to wash him off.

Previous cats, especially the all-white pair we had, loved to sleep in sinks--white porcelain (pawcelain?)--of course for the added invisibility. The current pair, not at all. Shadow, in fact, seems rather water averse, which makes me wonder about his past experieinces (always somewhat of a mystery with rescue cats).

Doesn't everything a cat can see belong exclusively to the cat?
