Finally, we understand...

.. exactly why we find orcs so luscious.
Backpedalling a little, on Saturday we watched LOTR/FOTR (being subscribers to the Murdoch empire via ntl [we're sorry]). Before that, we'd seen the supa-dupa-expanded DVD version while staying with friends late last year and hadn't been exactly overwhelmed (we'd already been drooling over the only really dishy actor for years, anyway and there's not a lot of Gollum in the first third of the opus). But, as ever, we enjoyed the orcs. We like orcs a lot. (Oh, and Nazgûl.) However, we hadn't worked out why the orcs were quite so successful.
With the second viewing, it's finally dawned on us: they're bog men. The leathery skin, the teeth sticking out through almost disintegrating faces, the slimy "birth" from out of damp, peaty-lookng ground: it all makes sense now.
