...at least it's not the washing machine itself that's causing the problem. Just some kind of blockage in the outflow before it reaches the drain outside. (After all the extra loads we've run over the last four or five days dealing with Looby Loo's repeated throwing up over bedding, we wouldn't blame the rather venerable Zanussi if it gave up the ghost.)

So it's off to find some pipe unblocking chemicals, new household gloves (why do they always split when you're furtling round in a drain?), and anything else on the current list. And, yes (maybe we don't need the appointment for allergy testing after all), even brief exposure to incompletely rinsed wet clothing and subs (sic, "suds" is what we meant, but if there are subs in there maybe it explains the bunged up pipes) therefrom has caused the dermatitis to return on both hands. So, first we're going to indulge in some illicit steroids.

[Did we mention at all that we're meant to be sorting out the preparations for a medieval-ish dinner for twelve on Saturday plus dinner for at least some of that number on Friday? That's what Friday and Monday were meant to be about.]

Well Mr Muscle seems to have done his bit. Now to rewash the half-load that was in situ when the flood waters rose. At least, we can sit here and type garbage whilst we cock our ears in the direction of the laundry. There are a couple of phone calls we need to make, but we daren't. Just asking for the pipes to clog again.

So, does this mean that it'll get a showing on a big screen near us? (It looked intriguing from the link to the trailer that was it [livejournal.com profile] sbisson posted a while back?) Or that Michael Moore's prize means that Bowling for Columbine will be reshown (we missed it at the Arts) somewhere soon?

[btw, am we the only people to find the inconsistency in the format of the names of LJ-specific tags infuriating: lj-cut with hyphen and lj user without? I know actually there is a sort of pattern, no hyphen for tags that don't require a matching end tag, hyphens in those that come in pairs. So there may be some techie reason to do this. However, as a poor higgorant end user (or should we put a hyphen in there too?), we find it hard to remember.]

Just realised, we went outside to check on the drains not only sans thick coat, hat, scarf and gloves, but wearing a fairly lightweight skirt and a strappy sleeveless t-shirt. We didn't freeze either.
