So, yes, with plenty of warning (tick) my ISP-who-will-remain-nameless upgraded my email to its spiffy new system. It provides instructions as to the new log in (tick) which I do. I had a quick look around--once I'd found an interface that worked with Opera (cross)--and was quickly unimpressed.

  • My aliases weren't there according the form (cross) and I couldn't set them up 'cos they already existed (double cross).
  • My filters, carefully written to cope with all the spam that the spam filters I pay for don't cope with, had gone (cross). I am getting spam downloading into my mail client at a rate of 10s at a time, rather than the previous odd one or two a day (cross). This spam has contained trojans, picked up by my local AV software, but which had been missed by the paid-for AV at the ISP (cross, cross, cross, cross, cross, but ESET's proving reliable).
  • My filters to segregate LL's email, tell me she'd got them, and send them on to/have picked up by her gmail account are gone (cross). These were really useful as I could have a quick check at headers online without reading her mail and could remind her if she'd got something important. Because she doesn't use her gmail address directly, it's stayed almost spam free.
  • I'm only getting about half my lj notifications (cross) and they're not in the spam folder in the webmail interface.
  • The webmail interface's spam folder is actually empty unless I move stuff into it online so if there's mail being falsely identified by the spam checker, I'm not seeing it (cross, and worried I might miss something important).
  • It has ads in its webmail interface that I can pay to get rid of. How kind! How lj. (cross)
  • The help for the web mail interface is of the telling me what I've already seen on screen with no useful additional information type (cross tech. writer).

Can I be bothered to raise a support ticket? Will anything be fixed by doing so? I think my domain renewal comes up early next year....

Ravens in search of new nest for domain plus mail (with a good range of hosting options should we want to add more shinies).

Caw! (crossly)
