Skills you never expected to acquire
Sep. 7th, 2012 12:02 pmTook Little to the vee ee tee yesterday. (She'd been eating and drinking less and less for a couple of days.) We dedided not to do any tests for the minute, but to repeat the turning the prune into a plum procedure. So I've learned how to administer subcutaneous fluids to a--fortunately compliant--cat. She even curled up and started to go to sleep. Result of which was a ravenous animal that scarfed half a tin of cat food when she got home.
So, we'll trying a little topping up of fluids on a regular basis and see where it gets us. We added 100ml yesterday which is roughly the same weightwise as the amount she'd lost since the Bank Holiday.
Long term we need to redo the kidney function tests 'cos they're not quite what you'd expect as indicators of kidney failure. And we need to test for pancreatitis (shades of Biggle, here).
As a side note, I'm building up quite a feline pharmacy. Fluids, sharps, opiates....
