Picked up a fine feather as I left to pick up Looby Loo. Found a Smarties lid (i) after we left school--a little scratched but what with their imminent demise* we're not being choosy. Looby Loo found an elastic band (our posties are really getting butter fingers). Finally, Looby Loo yelled for me to stop and she picked up 13p in 2p and 1p pieces. Not a bad haul.

Longer, and the tube's cardboard. The mini M&Ms are in a plastic tube, aren't they? (I'm sure we've got some of those lying around somewhere too.)
It's a sad day for keeping the streets clean: I always pick up the Smartie lids even if I later throw them out as too scratched and dirty. So that's less non-biodegradable litter lying round the place. I don't think I shall be doing the same with the new packaging.

Date: 2005-05-19 12:19 pm (UTC)Unless people are more likely to drop the whole new packet with cardboard flip-top than they than they currently are to drop the tubes, surely there should be less litter even without you picking up some of the dropped lids?
(And the new lids, being glossy cardboard like the tubes, will be slowly biodegradable-ish.)
If things get really bad ...
Date: 2005-05-19 01:09 am (UTC)I had friends collect them for me, so not only do I have a lot of letters on different coloured lids, there are also some font variations in there as well!
I'm not sure where they are at the moment (could be at my mum's house in the cellar, or could be in my garage here) but I see no point in keeping them, so if Nestle stop making smartie lids, you are welcome to mine.
