Snow is, apparently, a personal insult from the weather gods.
It takes them all morning to comes to terms with the affront and actually venture out from their run. Hard frost is fine: they pick their way over it quite happily. Snow makes them flounce around in a strop.
Actually, I fel sorry for them as it's cold and wet. Wet does cause them to have soggy feathers, Jack especially.
Our neighbour has six in her back garden. They were much less than pleased. The rooster continued to strut but was obviously trying to get everyone to just go back into the henhouse so he could get out of the cold.
