So glad...
... I read the local news before I went to vote.
I was planning to vote Green. I shan't vote Green locally again.
When the sitting (so there's no way of dislodging him until he comes up for re-election) Green councillor swaps sides on polling day (to Labour, but it would be just as bad wherever he went) because he "wanted to be part of a bigger party that has real power to make a difference for people" to further his political career, I'm not voting for the Green candidate who's another young white man very likely on the political make.
Oops, that rules out all the candidates in my ward.
Oh well, back to the blank protest vote.
(I'm really going to miss Margaret Wright.)
(I wonder how many folk will react similarly and switch from Green.)

I have never not voted (apart from illness and finding myself absent*), and always voted for a candidate. But 'none of the above' has almost always been my first preference. Maybe I should start blanking.
* hence the joy of postal voting
Blanking
I have to confess that I've always loyally turned out to vote, but almost certainly (once I stopped doing the Copeland supports Brother Jack thing) I have voted with a blank ballot paper more than anything else. I'd rather have someone to vote for.
I felt quite genuinely betrayed by the ex-Green today. To the point of being near to tears.

That last-minute change of party sounds very odd, at best.
