Knitting and Stitching 2017

Going backwards... I did get to Ally Pally for the Knitting and Stitching Show this year.
The regular lovely coachload. Reasonable journey down: especially the last bit through the back streets and red-brick houses near Ally Pally. We even passed this: Grand Designs: Haringey. Just a quick glimpse. I don't think from the TV I'd realised what a constricted site, on such a slope, but very fine.
The shopping at the show was mostly a disappointment: fewer small vendors, and some big ones missing, and my shopping list mainly unbought.
The exhibitions, and craftspeople on site, however, were glorious. So I spent more time looking. Hence I probably learned more and had a more useful experience.
Didn't take the camera with me this year: but I have one snap from an exhibition of handbags:

And the obligatory view of the skyline:

Then on Saturday, I went off to join some of the same lovely crew for a workshop with Jane Van Keulen. First some designing from doodles. (I made myself not give in to my usual habit of drawing many, many cubes. The animals that emerged from the swirlings were a surprise. Quite creepy.)

I intend to come back to this and embroider the design.
Then I worked on a kit with lots of Lazy Daisies.

Which was lazy, but relaxing, since I didn't take on something outside my comfort zone. Finished it up on Sunday.

It's now part of my "still life" in the bedroom.

Hugely worthwhile exercise (I'd failed to produce any poetry from a similar exercise with doodling/automatic writing the previous week: this encouraged me. Nothing like changing medium to get round blocks!)

That pear is very pretty, as are the swirls with the animals. I don't pick up cvreepy from them...
