If we ever do rejoin the EU, it will be without any of the special advantages that Thatcher negotiated for us. But if we do ever rejoin, I think we will appreciate it more.

I've always thought those special advantages unfair and undeserved. The way I felt that not joining the single currency was wrong.

I don't think it'll take very long for us to realise what we're missing--collectively, but with, yet again, the young hit the most.

But I write this as a European Unionist (which puts me in a more extreme position to many Remainers/Rejoiners, I guess.

Yes - I don't want to be part of a European super-state, but I do want to be part of an economic alliance. And from this point of view joining the single currency would have been a huge mistake, as indeed we have seen with Greece and the other poorer states suffering the consequences.
