Unprecendented Deeds in Unusual Times

Strict family tradition (mine!) has always been to put up the Xmas tree on Xmas Eve and take it down on 6th January (or sometimes New Year's Day). Our enthusiasm, or lack of, has meant that two years back, we didn't bother at all, as we were away for a week of that time.

Last year, I caved in slightly and we decorated a little earlier.

This year, the tree went up on the first Sunday in Advent. No decorations, yet. There's so little cheer around, it seemed the right thing. Also, I have a window to decorate for the village competition, which means I need to get the festive stuff out. So, the current state of the tree: Undecorated Xmas Tree in a Fireplace

Nice fireplace. Is that a bread oven I see to the right?
