I've bought a table lamp. What it's like (retro, with a ceramic base with a large dice, and an orange shade) is not really relevant. I've never bought a table lamp before, desk lamps, yes, and the occasional, mostly paper globe, lampshade. But a table lamp, it's so homeowner-y. Like I've moved on from student to grown-up.

I hadn't thought about it having a MidMod vibe, but yes.

Given the resources, I'd be inclined to go for a mid-20th century look right through the house. I did look at various 60s/70s shelving units for the living room, but I'm evidently not alone and buying the pre-WW2 barristers shelving units was far cheaper.
