Sign of Spring, or Not?

Is it proof that Spring's here that the annual ant incursions have begun (most seem to be arriving somewhere near the cat bowls and promptly drown themselves in the water-filled one)?

Or is it an indication that's it's bl**dy freezing out there again and the poor things are coming in for the warmth?

I would say they must be fleeing the damp of out of doors ... except that their Final Destination indicates otherwise.

Question is now entirely academic. I was happily living with them--they're quite well-behaved and troop along well-defined paths, disappear in the evening in time for me to cook, presumably hoovering up any crumbs in the meantime/kitchen--until I found one wandering around my shoulder inside my fleece. That's taking cosying up a little too far. Zapped 'em with a dose of ant powder, which is not a course I take lightly. Expecting them back as soon as they find a new untreated means of ingress.
