Merry Xmas!
Dec. 24th, 2021 09:28 pmWe've done our turkey-on-the-24th dinner (with added gammon). So it's definitely Christmas:

On the table, a rose:

It has a story. When we moved in, I found a large pot with a rose in it. Apparently dead. When I shifted the pot I found out why. The ants nest extended through the entire pot and into the ground below it. I lifted the dead rose and shook it out of the pot and then dropped the heaving formicating mass on the ground. I retrieved the empty pot and the label from the very dead bush.
The label said "This Sceptr'd Isle". So I bought a new bush of the same type, potted it up, put it in an an free spot in the garden, and here we are with a rose for Xmas.
