Heat, or lack thereof
Feb. 29th, 2004 07:48 pmPlumber arrived round about eleven on Friday. Four hours and much messing later--during which time there was no heat, no stove, no water and the back door wedged open to allow the hose that was draiining the sytem egress--he left, charging is 18 quid for parts and 200 for labour. At that point the system hadn't refilled with water--something that has to happen slowly. With a cranky set up like ours, that means we're still bleeding the radiators upstairs and can only run the pump intermittently before another airlock causes horrendous grindings and moanings.
It has snowed intermittently since the middle of last week. A rather painful coincidence, that.
Still, we do seem to have beaten the lice. We don't feel so confident about this that we're going to stop combing with the buzzy comb every day for a while. But no more creepy crawlies. Just don't scratch your head anywhere near us: we start looking suspicious and then twitching madly. And, of course, tomorrow is Monday so the little vector with wander back to the probable source of infection and the whole merry wotsit can begin again....
