(Squ)Eeek!

Mouse! In the house! Sitting on the shelf in the bathroom.

Gave it the big spider treatment: trapped it in a beaker with a sheet of cardboard (OK, a knitting magazine) slipped underneath. The bottom of the garden is probably not far enough away, but it was dark and damp and I didn't fancy venturing further.

It had the most immense lo-o-o-ng tail. And big eyes.

The cat was asleep downstairs. He's not currently allowed in the bathroom due to the hole in the wall where the old loo's been taken out. It's not quite direct access to the underside of the thatch, but pretty damn close. We've heard scritchings from that side if the house a couple of times. So not completely surprised.

They'll travel a couple of miles to get home again, so no.

It also helps to take them across water, e.g. a river or lake. Leaving them next to a bridge may be less than helpful, though.

Best of luck on getting the repairs finished before this mouse finds its way back in.
