Spam filters' preferences
Nov. 18th, 2003 11:26 amWe've got entirely used to the fact that try as we might Opera cannot be persuaded that our daily emailed headlines from The Times is not spam to be filed accordingly. It's quite amusing in its way. The Gruaniad, Indy and, even, Torygraph are fine. Only The Times gets the treatment. (I'm sure there's a very good technical reason: the email seems to register as a new contact each time too and doesn't list a date of arrival only a time.)
As a neat corollary to that, SpamShieldPro in the Easyspace Webmail, which is now happily trapping almost all spam, is letting The Times through, but has a similar problem with the Washington Post. Each tine we check the spam pool, zapping the lot, we first have to approve, yet again, the Washington Post missives.
Again, we're sure there's a technical reason why we can't get this to work. We prefer the thought of lurking intelligences with its own preferences and agenda.
Meanwhile, we're going to have to select moods with icons: Looby Loo just spotted them and was fascinated. Until she can read more than the twenty or so words she can cope with at the moment, we're not too bothered about her peeking over our shoulders.
