We think we've killed our watch. It's been living in pockets for a couple of weeks at least, whilst we got round to getting another new strap. We left it in a pocket on Sunday, when we got changed very rapidly before lunch, dumping our combat pants in the linen basket where they got covered with damp flannels from the face painting. Yesterday we coped without it, without really noticing. Today, having rooted it out, the hands aren't turning and a quick flick on the knob to reset the time produces no response. It's damp. So it could be that the battery's flat (but it's not that old: we don't need to change the battery more than once every five years or so) or that the wet's got inside and done its worst. Hum. We like that watch (and it was a sixteenth birthday present from the Aged Ps). Finding another watch (we do have one, but it's a huge novelty one) that fits our wrist and isn't a little girl's one, is likely to be hard. Much of the time it doesn't matter: we've clocks in most rooms, the radio/TV schedules to indicate time of day, the PC, and the mobile. We just feel so naked without it.
