Stoopid Question

What should one give to the folk that take mobile phones for recycling--just the phone; phone plus charger; phone plus charger plus accessories; all the above plus the box it came in? And the user docs too?

... depends on how it's going to be recycled.

If it's going to be taken apart, then definitely the phone and batteries.

If it's going to be "recycled" by being serviced and then sent off to the third-world, then everything.

And finally, if you have a use for the battery, charger etc. (e.g. a second compatible phone) then keep the bits you can use.

Well, for Tesco, who are by far the most convenient place to take 'em, the answer, buried deep in side the Environmental Responsibility section, is it depends. I guess, however, the age of one (bought 1997-ish) at least probably means it's destined for dismantling.

I'd give them the works, and let them decide.

Unless, of course, you still have use for some of the bits and pieces, in which case I'd say: give them everything but those bits you still want.
