Well, this was to my mind Chris Priest Lite, but none the worse for that. The loops through time, the alternate universes weren't quite the brain wringing puzzle that Priest might have made them. The characters and settings were enjoyably English. The evil angels were scary, nasty, tho' I'm not certain their origins convinced me. The alien enemy also failed to entirely convince, mainly because we saw so little of them. A fun read overall.
