So, I went out to buy stuff to treat the scalded hand and came back with cotton gloves.

Direct traffic. Apparently according to a conservationist I met at Picocon, cotton gloves aren't recommended for manuscripts as they are abrasive, you just need clean hands. Also she only used pencils , not to write in the margins of the 4th century documents, but for other notes, in case her hand slipped

I've heard it elsewhere, which is why I asked her opinion. I suspect the word hasn't spread.

I Am Not A Conservationist, but I think that bare hands are also better for books with leather bindings, because the oils in your skin nourish the leather.
