Too big, too heavy

So the next batch of bookss to go are all by Neal Stephenson. Not because we don't like: we do. Simply because iof I'm ever to read or reread I'll shell out for ebooks. The Kindle's a darn sight more comfortable on the wrists!

Next up: can I bear to part with my Penguin Norse sagas--all beautiful black spines in a row--if I have another translation (maybe the same translation) in a Folio Society edition?

If you do, I might be willing to buy them. I am teaching Vikings in the fall term, and this has reminded me that I need to talk to chilperic about which sagas he found most useful!

Not on offer: random request for my CV from an employment agency c.1989 and a card summarizing site emergency procedures from about the same time. Very nostalgia-inducing.

I would seriously check the dates of the translations. A lot of the folio editions still use older ones, which may be bowdlerised and contain other errors.

Absolutely. Tho' I think the Folios are _fairly_ recent and may actually be the same as the Penguins in some cases--and since I'm only reading for pleasure not for academic purposes I can tolerate a few errors (or look at the original language versions, even).

I've not checked yet as they're at the bottom of one of the 25-plus book stacks by the bed. Yes, we _really_ need to declutter.
