I may have had a retail accident, just a smallish one (BUT, FOLKS!...). I'm going to blame Looby loo 'cos she suggested we went and looked (FOLKS! FOLKS!...) and I succumbed to a replacement to my elderly and ailing Panasonic hi-fi (FOLKS! IT'S GOT...) whose remote control died about sixten years ago and tape deck a couple of months back, and which has been failing to pick up a clear FM signal and doesn't--since it's about twenty-five--do DAB. And, yes, the new one with a working remote and CD, DAB, FM, NFC, Bluetooth, also has (SQUEALS WITH DELIGHT...) VALVES! (YES! VALVES!)

There's a window on the front so you can see them glowing inside like a cute little hearth and a digital countdown as they warm up.

Many retro, such future. Wow!

Also listening to the Down and Safe* podcast from my Hudl via Bluetooth seems entirely appropriate with a combination of technologies like these!

Did I mention it has valves, btw?
