Oddly, I don't think I have ever played it.

There are two answers to that:

1. It's the best game ever. Just try it.

2. It's the best game ever... and if you get hooked... that's your game -plying taken over forever... don't go there it's dangerous.

And there's lots of expansions and variants, too :-)
