Home again
May. 26th, 2003 10:35 amA pleasant weekend. Journey up to Derbyshire took a little longer than usual, though not by much considering it was the beginning of a bank holiday weekend. Ran through a violent storm at Nottingham, but for the most part watched the bands of storm clouds in the distance (getting out from underneath Cambridge's very own apparently permanent fixture of a storm cloud was great: headache lifted). Arrived. Ate. Got LL to bed. All fine.
Saturday. Big breakfast/lunch. Off to Little Moreton Hall. Explored. Took almost an entire roll of film, including some cute duck, ducklings and our own little chick. LL found a mound to run up and down. In the long gallery a Japanese artist, Takumasa Ono, had an exhibition of prints made during an extensive tour of National Trust properties. There was a particularly stunning application of one of his designs to a kimono and some rather splendid hangings. The watercolour originals were nothing special, but the prints were spectacular (tho' no one else in our party seemed to think so). Bought a couple of postcards.*
LL distinguished herself in the pub on the way home by throwing up all over the ravens. No further details will be added beyond "ugh!".
Super supper on Saturday night. Brunch on Sunday. Home fairly early after a drive through alternating sun and storm.
* Seem to have reacquired the habit of picking up postcards everywhere we visit. Have quite a collection stashed away somewhere.
