Saxon Sunshine
Aug. 1st, 2004 11:42 pmPootled off, rather later than intended and hence to not such distant parts as Sutton Hoo, to the Recreated Anglo-Saxon Village at West Stow. Very pretty, tho' ahistoric offspring not much impressed. She did seem taken by the forge tho'. Lunch and shopping (oops! bought books--only two, despite the fact we wanted every single volume published by Anglo Saxon Books (don't remember them from our student days) that was in stock [we want the rest too]: one on magic and one of recipes). Bought Looby Loo an amber pendant (proper grown-up jewellry) as a reward for last week's efforts, a ring for the talons and hare earrings (now we can wear a hare stud in one ear and dangle a tortoise from the other lobe).
Then we did the nature walk and saw a world covered in horizontal neon stripes. So many damsel flies and one gigantic bron dragonfly. We also saw heads of cow parsley heaving with hover flies and a large flock of geese: all duly photographed. Gloriously hot and sunny. Even with sunblock we've toasted a little.
