I just came across your post where you say that you have Dragon NaturallySpeaking and working to optimise it.
I am a reseller of Dragon NaturallySpeaking and a Nuance accredited trainer based in the UK. I have recently put a demonstration on my website (www.speechempoweredcomputing.co.uk). Click on the link to "Microsoft Word" under " Online Demonstrations". You might be interested to take a look at it to give you an idea at all the accuracy and dictation speed of Dragon NaturallySpeaking in conjunction with Microsoft Word. This is the level you should be achieving quite early on with Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 9.
Thank you very much for you information. I may take a look at your demo, if I ever get round to reinstalling MS Office on my laptop.
I'm finding that, even with my less than mainstream selection of software -- I use Opera, FrameMaker, Firefox occasionally, and various smaller applications such as the LiveJournal client, the learning curve (both mine and the software's) has been remarkably shallow. I guess writing fantasy and science fiction sometimes stretches its inbuilt vocabulary -- as do my northern vowel sounds sometimes.
It is, in general, one of the easiest pieces of software to install and use and any hiccups provide more amusement than frustration.
