Yetta nuther petition at the Number 10 website. This one attempting to darken our skies a little or at least shade our lights. Good idea.
[I'm assuming there's some leather-wotsited functionary sat in the PM's office somewhere logging and cross referencing all the signatures and building up neat little profiles of the lot of us:

Against ID cards? Check.
Wants darker skies? Check.
Trident? ...*
'Ere, Fred. Another one for the files.

When they put a lighted junction in on the A10 between Cambridge and Royston, I was happy to see that the lights they used were proper downlighters. When you come over the juntion of the hill nearby, you can't actually see the light fittings, only the road beneath.

Now if only they were to refit all existing road lights.

Oh its ok, there was something on the news earlier about a move to reduce street lighting and light pollution. By turning off half, or all, the lights on major roads and motorways, at midnight, which is good news for astronomers (though quite what they might be doing with a telescope in the middle of the m6 at midnight is anyone's guess...)
