In order to transform from fashionista airhead to computer engineer, Barbie has presumably upped her intellec--and acquired specs (and not sunglasses). Why this deeply embedded assumption that specs=clever and its opposite nospecs=dim? Why perpetrate it?
And, yes, I do believe this is a deeply embedded belief. I've watched it in practice. LL's music teacher speaks to her--and teaches her--differently on days when LL remembers to wear her specs.
