Today I was staring out the window and spotted a stripy-tailed hawk fly in and settle under the hawthorn before soaring away low over the fence into the next-door garden.

The hordes of coal-, blue-, and great-tits in the rowan were not best pleased.

Me, I was hoping for the woodpecker, but a sparrowhawk will do, too.

(Needless to say, I was sitting in the dining room of my dad's house not our own home.)

This evening, the car in front of us nearly hit a sparrowhawk that had decided to try roadkill pigeon.
