muninnhuginnJust got an especially irritating cold call on the land line (I add for sake of clarity). Firstly, it was painfully annoying because it went straight into loud "on hold" music with no warning. At least if a (recorded or otherwise) voice warns me I can move the phone away from my ear. Canned music is no good for tinnitus.
Then I got the foreign accented voice trying to get me to confirm who they were talking to. At least, I think that's what was being said. I've heard quieter background noise from Looby Loo's calls from Hills Road at the height of the rush hour. I repeatedly apologised about not being able to talk to them due to the background noise at their end until they gave up. Tinnitus not helped.
As I usually do, I checked the caller's number with 1471 in case the number wasn't withheld. The number given back to me was puzzlingly my own number (without dialing code). Which is different. I'd love to know how that's done.
