Our last, elderly, chicken died shortly before Christmas. We're not planning to replace her. I've started tidying up the run to reseed with grass this spring.

I'm giving the not-replacing, and possibly rehoming, option serious thought. Don't want to go chook-free. But with no-one home four days a week, they don't get the freedom they might.

"Our" chickens were Pam's really, so it's her decision. Most days she's in for at least some of the day, but we just left the coop door open all the time anyway. I've tidied the area somewhat to sow grass seed, but still have to get rid of the coop (converted Wendy house), if you know anyone who wants one.

Don't know of anyone at present, but I can ask around.

I'm probably going to buy a bigger cage for mine, once we've got the chaos in the house sorted. And she's convinced me the hen's not going to pop her cogs, too.
