Well that rather reprioritises our day: a pad on our specs has broken off. Not the usual screw falling out business: got the gear to deal with that. Nope. The attachment's sheared off completely. With a bit of care it can be slotted in and balanced on the bridge of our beak.

Sighs. We love these specs. The flexible frames are good, but it's the absence of weight that really does it. They're also the best fit for our very small head. But this will be second time the pads have needed replacing. The plastic guards over the end of the ear pieces (there must be technical terms for all of these bits of glasses!) have been replaced once already. Not had the specs much more than 12 months (do we therefore have a forthcoming appointment? that'll be interesting, when we're now in the six month queue to see an eye specialist at the hospital) and no other specs we've possessed have ever required this much maintenance.

Oh well, I suppose I need to get some meat and such today. It'll be the real butchers if I need to wander to the opticians.

Nice music you're listening to, anyway, she says, looking for a silver lining.

Yes, there it is, sparkling in that single ray of sunshine ...
