I've put the eggs spreadsheet (yup, I'm keeping a count) into Google Spreadsheets. So if anyone wants to see the accumulating data, I can share it with you! I just need to add an email (and presumably you've got to have signed up to the beta too).

Isn't that just so egg-citing!

I'll probably do that too, obsessed as I am.

It's a bit like the bread machine: there's a sense of it changing from being a big expense (which it was) to ticking over at a non-exorbitant rate.

I don't know whenther it'll ever be cheaper.

Well, we reckon that an organic free-range egg is worth about 25p on the open market. N's about to get some Rhode Island Reds free from sister L, and assuming that they each lay roughly one egg per day, that's N's feed budget. But the chicken run came free from L too!

N's going to give excess eggs away to work colleagues, but N's other half S wants to sell them at work :-)

Well, we've had the hens a month no, all but, so we've saved 4 times £1.10 by cancelling our organic egg order from COFCo. We've not had to buy feed yet (a big bag came olong with the rest of the stuff). It'll be a while before we, er, recoop our costs.

One of ours is half Rhode Island Red. Very pretty.
